| Robert Fenner-Picking out livestock for your Reef Aquarium |
Previous--Index--Next
Bob Fenner has had experience in just about every aspect of this hobby of ours. His talk was mostly on how to judge a healthy fish and choose one that is suitable for your tank. He also covered the myriads of inappropriate fish that are sold and reminded people to not buy them to save them from the evil conditions they are in but to avoid them and thereby casting your vote for the store owner to buy more appropriate and healthy stock. Sound advice for us all. He more or less was saying that WE, the consumer, will have a direct effect on what the store owner will stock. It may take time, but by being a conscientious buyer, we can make a difference eventually. No store owner will keep buying fish that won't sell, or dies in his care because it was cyanide caught. Mention the key words to these people, ask about it, even if they tell you a lie, they will get the idea that the consumer is concerned and cares about where the fish come from. Sooner or later, they will get the idea.
